This is closely linked to energy consumption. Thermal resistance depends mainly on the thickness of the floor covering and its thermal-conductivity properties.

Will the floor be installed by a professional, or will you do it yourself?
If you opt for professional installation, you can choose based on design and performance properties alone – a specialist will take care of the correct installation.

What's your substrate and floor height like?
If you are not going to lay the floor yourself, all options are open and you can choose by performance properties and design. For renovations, however, the height of the new floor and the condition of the substrate play a fundamental role.
Glued vinyl tiles and vinyl floors in rolls have a thickness of 2 mm, so they barely raise the floor level – an ideal solution where there are low door thresholds or limited space. They do, however, require a level and solid substrate, ideally levelled with self-levelling compound, because this type of covering follows even small irregularities.
Floating vinyl floors with a click locking system have a greater thickness, and so thanks to their construction they are able to compensate for small irregularities in the substrate.
If you need a minimal height increase, choose glued vinyl. If on the other hand you want a fast and dry installation, a click system is ideal.

Floating vinyl floors with a click locking system have a higher purchase price, but their installation is fast, clean and requires no adhesive or extensive substrate preparation.
Vinyl flooring in rolls are always glued over the entire area, are characterised by high durability and their installation is best entrusted to professionals. They represent a practical solution with excellent value for money, ideal especially for commercial spaces where durability and easy maintenance are emphasised.
When choosing it therefore pays off to consider the total project cost – that is, the price of materials, accessories and labour.
